Microsurgical clip ligation of an anterior inferior cerebellar artery aneurysm

This video adheres to the GMC guidance on Good Medical Practice. This will be part of a series of teaching videos for medical students and neurosurgery trainees at Queens Hospital, Romford, UK. Aneurysms of the vertebrobasilar junction and basilar trunk are challenging to access and mostly treated endovascularly. In this patient's case the neck of the AICA aneurysm was difficult for the interventional neuroradiology team to access and so the procedure was abandoned. The dolichoectatic parent vessel in this case placed the neck of the aneurysm in a surgically accessible location within the cerebellopontine angle. Via a retrosigmoid approach, the anatomy is demonstrated and the aneurysm was secured.
