Sub-specialised expertise:
Over the years neurosurgery has become increasingly subspecialised and so patients living with these rare neurovascular conditions are often referred onwards by general neurosurgeons to neurovascular surgeons like myself with more focussed expertise and training in these disorders. Training in this neurosurgical subspecialty is limited to a tiny number of Royal College of Surgeon’s accredited fellowship programs in the UK.
Neurovascular lead clinician:
Within my NHS practice I have the role of lead clinician for Neurovascular surgery and I’m one of only 2 surgeons who manage these conditions in the whole catchment population of my NHS trust. The NHS trust I work in is nationally recognised as a "high volume" centre for neurovascular disease.
Multidisciplinary working:
The diagnosis, decision making and management of these conditions is made between myself and expert interventional neuroradiologists, who I work with to tailor the care to each patients needs. I continue to oversee the care of patients who have undergone treatments by interventional neuroradiologists.
With my additional higher subspecialised training in a Royal College of Surgeons accredited fellowship in Neurovascular surgery, I aim to offer the highest standard of expertise and care to patients living with brain aneurysm, AVM/ AVF, Cavernoma and Moyamoya disease.
Motivation:
Persevere until the best solution is found
Innovation:
Training in the latest procedures to minimise the invasiveness of your treatment, maximise safety and speed up your recovery.
Responsibility:
Oversee your care throughout your treatment journey with a multidisciplinary team of professionals.
Good communication:
Continue liaising with you and other professionals treating you.
Excellence:
Aiming to deliver the highest standard of care, the best outcomes and patient experience.
